Group Creator

By Mattias Danielsson

Group Creator is a small freeware that reads the mobile phone contact list and group them according to the settings. There are group rules by company, city, country, family name, note and job title. Group Creator uses the group functionality in the phone book to organize your contacts by adding them to existing groups. If the group not exists Group Creator will create the group. Group Creator never removes or deletes anything, it only adds.

Group your contacts by select Group contacts in soft menu. Open the soft menu by press down the navigation key or left soft key.

Changes log

Main menu is now divided in three parts, My Contacts, Settings and Latest changes.

  • My Contacts shows a short summary in following format: number of contacts/number of groups/number of total grouped contacts (percent of number of grouped contacts). By pressing navigation key it is possible to group contacts, undo and delete groups as well to open Contacts group view.
  • Settings shows a short summary of the current settings. By pressing navigation key it is possible to change settings in the settings menu for group rule (city, company, country, family name, job title and note) and minimum of number of contacts in one group (1-99).

InsFast: Batch installer for S60 3rd edition *update*

Posted by Divyang on March 8, 2008

This has got to be one of the most useful and definitely one of the top  apps for 3rd edition phone.

One of the most annoying and time-consuming tasks on these Nokia S60 devices is having to reinstall every single app after a firmware upgrade or hard reset. If that wasn’t enough you’ll have to deal with several security warnings and popups. InsFast is a type of batch installer that solves this by allowing you place all the .sis, .sisx, .jar or jad installation files and it will take care of the rest. It’s a not a “set it and forget” solution as you’ll will still have to deal with a few popups and security warnings, but these are much less than you would usually get and in the end you’ll have your programs installed and ready for action! How cool is that?! One thing I would advice is to place the installation files in the memory location (card of phone memory) where you would want the program to be installed. So it would make sense to group your apps into two groups: those to be installed in the memory card (or built-in memory in the case of the N95 8GB, N91, N91 8GB and N81 8GB) or phone memory. After that, all you’ll need to do is point InsFast to the desired location. One word of warning is that the file is not signed, so you’ll need to sign it to install.

whats new

1. Installed wrong in the current directory will be created under the “@ @ InstErr. Txt” file (@ increase to eye-catching, it has no intention), there are specific content errors
2. Cancel the installation will be relatively slow response time, according to cancel a trip to the
3. Installation procedures in the setting of the various settings menu

hats off to leftup who has made this awesome app

Pollicino v1.2.4 See your path on Google Earth !

Posted by Divyang on March 8, 2008

Do you have a GPS mobile, or a GPS bluetooth mouse for your mobile ?

You can see your path while you navigate, you can load/save/export your path … and see you also where you have been in google earth (via help from GPS TrackMaker)

ps: About manuals … ok … the only things that you need to know is: Load/Save only use the GPStrack.txt file from your memory card in the Other directory (file:///E:/Others/GPStrack.txt) … from GPS TrackMaker, you need to save in TXT mode (Waypoints+ Text Format) and place it in the mobile memory card as GPStrack.txt … and in Navigation/Browsing mode, the cursor keys have actions

Whats new:
- Backlight (only if selected and only in navigation mode)
- “*” – “#” : now are zoom in – zoom out
- Store&Update the GPS position every second (1.2.3 it was every 2)
- Other minor cosmetic changes, that I forgot already

PuTTY is a free SSH client v1.5 beta

Posted by Divyang on March 8, 2008

Log into a remote machine from your Nokia phone. PuTTY is a free SSH client developed by Simon Tatham and others. This is a port by Petteri Kangaslampi to the Symbian OS S60 3rd Edition. The current version contains basic SSH protocol support & terminal emulation

This package is a fresh beta release of PuTTY SSH client for Symbian
OS based smartphones. As a beta release it is expected to be
reasonably stable, but can still have bugs, missing functionality, and
general rough edges

Changes:
Main changes since 1.4 beta 1:
- Support for different character encodings, most notably UTF-8
- S80 settings improvements: Settings are stored as profiles, and the
application presents a profile list at startup.
- S60 third edition bug fixes and additional fonts. PuTTY now works
properly on an E90
- Refactored and largely rewritten S60 UI, with a separate profile
list view, proper settings views, no need to exit the application
after each connection etc
- S60 settings brought up to date with S80
- Replaced the “Send” menu with a new grid control. This avoids problems
with multiply nested menus that have appeared on recent S60 3.1
devices, and should also improve usability on non-QWERTY devices
- Lots of bug fixes, UI improvements, and general cleanup

cClock v1.19

Posted by Divyang on March 8, 2008

cClock (pronounced “see-clock”) is a screen saver that run on Nokia phone S60 3rd edition.

It feature big font and prevent deep power saver mode on Nokia 6120 classic and Nokia 6110.

cClock is freeware, written by Chua Welic

 Options :

If “Power saving mode” is “No”, the screensaver will activate the screen for every two minutes. This is to prevent 6120 Classic or 6110 Navigator go into deep power saving mode. This will cause more power drain on the phone.

The option “Backlight” if is “Yes”, it will turn on backlight on any key that you press.

“Whole background” if is “No”, it will turn of portion of the LCD that is unused. It will only work on some model like 6120 Classic.

“Moving speed” will let you configure the moving speed of cClock.

“Always on top” if it is “No”, you can see the “desktop” or program on top if you press any key. If it is “Yes”, you will see “cClock” stay on until you unlock the keyboard.

“Icon” will display keylocked, sms, misscall and profile icon.

The “Chinese calendar” option only will work for phone that support Chinese character.

“Battery and network” option will show battery and network strength. ***** WARNING ***** It will drain more battery power in some model. (N73, E70, E50)

Known issue :

1. On OS9.1, some other screensaver will have conflict with cClock.

2. On some model of Nokia phone, turn on “Battery and network” will cause huge battery drain.

Save power :

1. Turn off “Whole background”. This option is highly recommend to turn it off for OS9.1.

2. Turn off “Battery and Network”, this option if it is on, it will drain more power in some model.

3. Turn off “Display second” in Time. If it is on, it will refresh every 1 second.

4. Turn off “Stopwatch”. Same as above, will refresh every 1 second.

5. Turn on “Power saving mode”. This option only for new phone like 6120c or 6110n

6. “Moving Speed” set at maximum. The faster you move, more power drain.

7. Turn off “Back light”

8. Turn off “Always on top”

In short, the longer the refresh rate, the less power you use. If you have all the option above, cClock use very little power.

this is the software if you want to get rid of your existing powesaver
